Bottle Feeding and Cribs

I'm too tired to write a whole lot so I'll just give the bare minimun and put a couple of pictures...which I'm finding out are really the only things people look at anyway:)
Sunday we got to start bottle feeding them just a little. 10ml once a day. The rest of their milk still goes through a the tubes. Both of them have done very well with their bottles. Today the nurse let us give Sophie her entire bottle and she finished it in about 10 minutes. Mattie downed about half of a bottle once...but we're pretty sure she would have finished it if given the chance. She's still just getting a little less in a bottle since her O2 is still a little higher. She fell asleep a little early today too!
We've been moved to the Chilren's Hospital NICU which is much quieter and we have both girls in what is almost a private room. We're pretty excited about that. We are gonna miss seeing Alex, Stacy, and Crimson and a new family, the Horkeys across the room, though. We had gotten pretty used to the other NICU and we feel like the New Kids on the Block (not the band) again, but I'm sure it will feel like home in no time. (Which as Hannah Danley pointed out is pretty sad)
Mattie is in a crib for the first time. Sophie will be in one as soon as they find one for her. They are still having a little trouble coming off of their O2 so keep that in your prayers. Thanks again for praying for them. We are just barely starting to see the finish line from the NICU and I'm afraid that might make the wait for the next several weeks that much harder for me!
...I tried to post this last night, but got disconnected just before I got it online and was too frustrated to finish it. This morning we found out that both girls are going to get to bottle feed ever feeding as long as they want to. If they are too tired or aren't awake when it is time to feed then the rest will go through the tubes. We'll see how it goes!

  1. Josh and Amber,
I hope you two are taking care of yourselves as well as the babies. I can only Imagine the toll it can take on you from day to day. I had to spend a week at the hospital with our daughter a few years ago and that was hard enough. I know it doesnt even compare to what the two of you are going through but I want you to know that later on in your life you will look back on this time and you will be able to see just how much Jesus was walking with you and you will just draw that much close to him because of it. it will be one of those great awe moments in life. there is nothing that can compare to being able to see the points in your life where we where being carried.. the girls get prettier and prettier with every post. our prayers are still with you and we will lift them up about the O2 and continue to keep Crimson in our prayers as well. 2. Josh, I had just told Joel last night "Josh has not put anything up in several days!" and he said "It gets old and you get tired of reporting." He was our writer, like you are. I was so happy to see that both girls are doing well. When you finally see the end in sight, time does begin to pass slowly. I would practically run into the NICU so I would not miss the chance to feed Clayton with a bottle. So much work for them to do, such a basic task, but to come home they must learn and they will. Just to let you know, Clayton did come home on O2. He COULD NOT let it go. It was just a little puff they would say, but he had to have it. We were scared to death of the thought of having to do that at home, but after what you are going through you will be happy to take that precious angel home O2 or not! It was not bad at all. I will pray she gets rid of it, but know you can handle whatever. Look at what you two have already endured! All of our love and have I mentioned they are beautiful! Hannah Danley

  9. Josh and Amber,
Just wanted to let u know how amazing you two are!I have only know u both for a short time but in that time the love u two have for God and all the people that cross paths with u shines like a light! Josh- I appreciate when u speak to the congregation and even if u do "choke up" when u speak it just makes me see that u are definetly speaking straight from the heart and every word is sincere. The girls are beautiful and perfect in everyway. Can't wait to see them and you two as well! take care_Love, Charity, Darian, Kobe, and Maki :)
